Just through looking at litters......
The first hound I recommended to someone else was the first of the Marumac exports M.Amos ( Wenwils kennels, Sweden). The owners contacted me for a puppy, and as I had nothing at the time I recommended a litter by Banrions' sire from another new breeder called Mary McBryde. Amos became an Int Ch and Marumac later re- imported stock by him ex a Mountebanks bred bitch to GB.
How could I forget ?! A first visit to Carrokeel led to Betty Murphy taking me to some of the breeders in her own area, where I met Tony Doyle and then recommended a Belgian buyer should take young Killykeen Tolkein. He later became an Int Ch, I was touched to receive a small parcel of old IWC year books from Tony as a "thank you" and he later called one of his hounds after me - "Killykeen Miss Till".
I became involved in the arrangements between Betty Murphy and Dagmar Kenis at the time the latter was thinking of finding a home for Rurik of Solstrand ( Imp Swe) and found myself as the person who took "Viking" over to Betty in Co.Dublin. Viking loved life at Ballyhagan and was the sire of several influential offspring for the Carrokeel kennel.Apart from Eire perhaps the main "Rurik" inheritance is via the Athcarne influence upon Finnish hounds.

Going down to Cornwall to see a litter by Xile I learned that the bitch I liked best wasnt spoken for, so I suggested she went to a Finnish breeder who was looking for a good female at the time. She became Int Ch Athwenna, the first for the Greenswell kennel. When I saw her three years later in Finland she was a great little mover with a good front. Denise Bushby took on two males from this litter when she moved to Eire and one of them became an Irish Champion.
Joan Dunn brought the black bitch Panoramania Velvet to Ch Ipse Facto, at around the time Davor Marianovich was seeking his first IW. I suggested a male from this litter, who grew up to become Int Ch Panoramania Thor, the first big winner in Slovenia. Thor was a huge hound and created a lot of interest in the breed in his adoptive country.
I had to part with the only bitch from the Ch Eaglescrag Justin litter at the time my marriage was breaking up and gave her to my friend Ann Sillito, who bred her in line with my suggestions for which I was extremely grateful. Mochras Juxtalia's first litter ( by Ipse Facto)contained Mochras Myalia, who lived to ten ( I never bred from her). Her second litter was to Marumac Feril, and this produced some wonderful puppies. Ika Peiler contacted me after hearing there might be an interesting dog in the litter. He grew into Int Ch Juxtalia Macmathuna of Knocknarea, BIS at the IWC show and BOB at Crufts plus much more in his adoptive country. "Jonah" was a lovely hound, as good in manners as he was in construction and type.Davor Marianovich took his full sister from the next litter and showed her to her title as Int Ch Juxtalia Maeve, she died two days before her tenth birthday but sadly never had a litter.
Juxtalia lived to over ten and won a res cc despite not being shown more than a handful of times.
Mary McBryde was reluctantly reducing her kennel, so I suggested Ann should take Marumac Gretchen after Juxtalia died. We loved Ir Ch Mallanigh Dawn Chase of Knocknarea and used this Ch Ipse Facto grandson on Gretchen. These 9 month littermates won 1 2 3 puppy and 1 junior under Bill Deemer on their debut at the IWC Ch show, they could not have done better. Juxtalia Ita of Knocknarea and Juxtalia Io have produced the next generations for Knocknarea and for Mochras.Gretchen lived to over nine.
